Coaching Approach

My integrative coaching approach focuses on advancing the capacities of the whole individual/family by examining behavioral, psychological, socio-cultural, and biological factors producing weakened life functions; ensuring that the changes made during our time together are effective and sustainable.

 

Without the burden of negative self-assessment, I work with you to identify the indicators and evaluate sources of your frustration and obstruction when it comes to your relationship to alcohol and drugs, and how they are affecting your life and the lives of those around you.

My distinct style provides you with the opportunity to learn how your brain and mindset best function and new possibilities for responding to your challenges. Because of my own lived experience with drugs and alcohol, my clients understand that I am not judging them, and they are able to relax and feel safe enough to expose what many in their world have labeled as “negative behaviors and poor choices”. I work to help you understand that what you have been doing to live and get by, has been your own creative way of trying to meet your critical needs and that together we will work, one step at a time, to retrain your brain and mindset with healthier, more effective practices of skills.

 

I do not lead you through a generic one-size-fits-all coaching program nor dictate a time frame that you must fit into. Understanding the complexity of human experiences and aspirations, I go beyond rigidity in favor of flexibility with each client. Every session is tailored to what’s right for you.

 

There is often a misconception that to work with a coach, your life must be a mess, or you can’t succeed on your own. This simply isn’t true. Every person experiences a season of challenge and change, some thrive during this time and others need the guidance and resources of a professional. The starting point varies from client to client, but the common denominator is always growth. Professional coaching is about building on the capabilities you already have, not about personal deficits. Coaching is an investment in yourself that can yield profound and sustainable results, ultimately leading to a more balanced and fulfilling life.
